Mission Statement

TEAM is a non-profit corporation with the goal of increasing the participation of our underserved Virgin Islands youth in the game of tennis, helping develop their character and providing educational enrichment, nutritional assistance, and financial literacy opportunities, in order to provide the ability to make healthy living choices and improve life skills.

Our founders are born and raised Virgin Islanders who have spent their lives educating and raising the bar for our Virgin Island youth. 

Albert, Alden and Felicita Richards have a combined 100 plus years of educating Virgin Islands youth. Working at every level from the formerly known Peace Corps elementary school, BCB middle school, to Charlotte Amalie and Eudora Kean High School, to the Upward Bound programs, our founders have a proven track record of participation and stellar results as educators, athletes and coaches.

Felicita is currently completing her PhD in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change, with a focus on Education. She also has also attained a Master of Communication Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology), University Of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina, and a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Educational Administration and Supervision, University of the Virgin Islands, V.I..

Felicita retired as the District Director, Division of Special education for STT and STJ.

In addition, brothers Albert and Alden are some of and have raised the most accomplished Tennis players our Islands have produced. Including, but not limited to the most recent Tennis Channel’s “Top Coach In America” winner John Richards. John serves on the Board, and as the Director of Tennis for the foundation.

Albert, has attained a Bachelor of Science Degree-Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth city N.C., and has held numerous positions as Head Coach, Delegation leader and a top tier competitor for the VI. He is also the only Virgin Islands tennis player to medal in International Competition.

Alden has attained a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from the University of The Virgin Islands. He has also held numerous positions as Head coach, Head of Tennis Delegation and Head Tennis Professional. Alden is both a USPTR and a USTPA certified coach.

TEAM is in the process of building our infrastructure to provide sustainable tennis and other programming to the U.S.V.I. We are actively looking for partners that can assist in the building and execution process, including funding and other sustainable resources.
